An Open Letter To My College Best Friend

Everyone meets his or her person in college, it’s inevitable and something that usually happens naturally. Your best friend, the person you text or call when something amazing, terrible or awkward happens. Your other half. The only thing I would change after meeting my person in college is that I would have met her a lot earlier in life if I were given the choice.

Through joining the same sorority, our bigs being best friends, to us sort of being awkward friends for the first few weeks of hanging out, to somehow realizing there’s definitely a reason we were brought together. “Did we just become best friends?” “YUP!”

Okay, I know this sounds cheesy but if you have a person like this you know it’s just slightly mind blowing that two people can be so alike in so many ways.

The minute we realized we would get along we were pretty much inseparable. You now finish my sentences, say the literal same thing as me at the EXACT same time, and understand exactly how I’m feeling by looking at my face. You even know my thinking face when I don’t understand something, how is that possible?

Not only are you someone who I can run to when I’m happy and excited, or just when I need a hug or a shoulder to cry on but you are someone who goes above and beyond to be one of the best friends someone could ever ask for. Caring, understanding, hilarious, beautiful on the inside and out, whole hearted, loving and someone who people are lucky to meet in their life.

As we go through our last few weeks together in college, a few weeks before I graduate, I realize there is no way that I can thank you for everything you have done for me. Through the laughs, the cries, the up and downs, I can say I had you by my side through it all. College is a crazy roller coaster but having your person by your side makes it that much easier.

Now the cliché part comes out when I say that I am so happy we don’t have to say goodbye and that it’s just a see you later. I know I will hopefully see you just as much as I do while living across the street from each other. Thank you for being my best friend, my person, my other half, partner in crime, and the Christina Yang to my Meredith Grey, I don’t know what I would do without you, I love you to the moon and back.

“Oh, I forgot to ask you, do you like guacamole?”

Love, Paige Cirpriani
